The moment you open up your Microsoft Excel program, you are confronted with a grid with columns and rows of cells. This is known as an Excel worksheet. This happens to be the place where you're going to put all your data and then calculate it.
It is very easy to navigate from one empty space to another -- this space is known as a cell -- all you have to do is use the arrows upon your keyboard up and down, left or right in any direction you want. You can also shift to the right of the page by pressing the tab key, and the shift to be done one cell to another. Moving to the page's left side is done very easily by pressing down shift and then tap on the tab. If you want to go to the top of the page, use the page up button. Pressing the page on button is going to take you to the 1, 056, 381th cell depending upon the strength and power of your computer! If you want to go to the very first cell, all you have to do is press home while you are holding down the control button. Any up or down arrow moves a chess foot soldier, one cell at a time. If you want to go to some particular cells in a hurry, here are the shortcuts for you.
The moment you press the F5 button, which happens to be the key for the go to function, you're going to be prompted to write down the number of the cell and its location. I want to go to cell number 76 on the F grid. The moment I type F76, the cursor is going to jump straight to that particular cell.
The following are shortcuts for moving quickly from one cell in a worksheet to a cell in a different part of the worksheet. Control key + G also happens to have the same function as F5, which is going to help you go to a particular cell.
To select a given range of cells, all you have to do is go to those cells and highlight them.
Now I want to select all the cells from A1 to A25. I go to A1. The moment I press F8, the cursor is going to be anchored at that place. There is going to be an extend selection sign on the status bar. Now I click upon A 25. Every single set between A1 and A 25 is going to be selected and highlighted. The moment I want to clear up all the highlighting, I just need to press upon escape and then click anywhere.
Many people also use another might have of highlighting cells by dragging the cells. They press the mouse button -- left click -- and hold it down. Then they drag the mouse all over the needs -- to -- be -- selected area.
